Debie's baptism of fire
After 6 months of toiling and sweating on our bus, Debie was finally ready for her first trip with Greece as the main destination. During 2 full months Dennis and I crossed Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary (see route polarsteps). And ok,.. now that you ask, the 3 countries that stood head and shoulders above the rest for us were: Albania, Greece and North Macedonia. Albania for its wonderful authentic people and their customs (read: man on donkey, and old woman who hitch a ride because she just missed her bus and gives a pappel (mixture between pear and apple) as a thank you), Greece for her vast private beaches and North Macedonia for its unspoilt nature and beautiful walks through forests and mountains (with the accompanying stray dogs as a travel companion).
Despite the fact that we could not / dared to fly everywhere, below is a nice summary of our trip and some of the beautiful places!
